Venezuela: 100 people killed in U.S. attack

Venezuela's interior minister Diosdado Cabello said at least 100 people died as a result of the U.S. military operation. According to him, the attack led to President Nicolás Maduro being removed from power. The minister made the statement on Wednesday evening.
Officials had previously not provided exact figures for the casualties. The Venezuelan army has so far released the names of 23 deceased soldiers. In addition, Cuba reported that 32 Cuban military and intelligence personnel in Venezuela were also killed.
According to Cabello, during the operation Nicolás Maduro suffered a leg injury, and his wife Cilia Flores suffered a head injury. They were captured by U.S. forces.
Venezuela's interim president Delsi Rodriguez declared a week of mourning for the soldiers who died. These events have further escalated the situation in the country and attracted international attention.
