Chevrolet unveiled the new Grand Sport

Chevrolet has finally revealed the next-generation Corvette Grand Sport, bringing the new model to Sebring during the famous 12-hour race weekend. The car appeared in a parade celebrating different Corvette generations, surprising many fans who had been waiting for the official debut after months of speculation. Reports Ixbt.com.

The new Grand Sport keeps the classic look associated with the badge. It was shown in Admiral Blue with a wide black racing stripe running through the center and red accents near the rear arches. The model uses the wider body seen on the E-Ray and Z06, and it also features four center-mounted exhaust pipes, a new front splitter and a sharp rear spoiler. A carbon-fiber section in the middle of the front bumper helps distinguish it from other current Corvette versions.

Under the hood, Chevrolet has fitted a new 6.7-liter naturally aspirated LS6 gasoline engine. The unit uses both direct and port fuel injection and is expected to produce around 550 horsepower. That would place the Grand Sport between the 495-horsepower Stingray and the 670-horsepower Z06. Full specifications are expected on March 26, and early reports suggest this version could become one of the most popular in the Corvette lineup.

Chevrolet is also said to be developing a Grand Sport X variant to replace the hybrid E-Ray. That version is expected to combine all-wheel drive with an electric motor on the front axle for a total output of about 721 horsepower.
