The historical complex "Dari-Zanjir" is being restored in the city of Samarkand. The Cultural Heritage Agency reported this.
Information about the historical complex
The name of the "Dari-Zanjir" complex, located in the old part of Samarkand, near Registan Square, can be translated as "chained door". Amir Temur and members of the Timurid dynasty, as well as representatives of the clergy and their family members, lived here.
Our ancestors chained the doors of their chambers to protect their women from the eyes of non-mahrams, as a result of which the entry of strangers was strictly prohibited. That is why this area became known as "Dari-Zanjir".
Restoration work and funds spent
The total area of the complex is 70.13 square meters. In 2024, it was fully taken under state protection and restoration work began. 415 million soums were spent on the covering of the Dari-Zanjir monument and the restoration of its exterior.
Currently, restoration and conservation work is ongoing inside the facility. The complex is expected to reopen to tourists soon.
Cultural heritage preservation programs
During 2024, the Samarkand Regional Department of the Cultural Heritage Agency carried out repair and restoration work at 20 cultural heritage sites. To date, restoration work has been fully completed and put into operation at 5 sites.
The “Dari-Zanjir” complex was included in the National List of Cultural Heritage and placed under state protection on October 4, 2019, based on the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers “On Approval of the National List of Immovable Property Objects of Tangible Cultural Heritage”.
The restoration of the “Dari-Zanjir” complex is of great importance not only for preserving the historical heritage, but also for increasing the tourism potential of Samarkand. After its restoration, this monument will become another attraction for local and foreign tourists. Follow “Zamin” news on “Telegram”
