During 2024, 271,776 marriages were registered across Uzbekistan. This means an average of 7.3 marriages per 1000 people.
For comparison, this figure was 6.1% in Kazakhstan, 6.2% in Kyrgyzstan, 5.1% in Moldova and Belarus, 5.1% in Armenia, and 4.9% in Azerbaijan. This means that Uzbekistan has higher marital activity compared to neighboring and some European countries.
According to statistics, one family is born every two minutes in our country, an average of 31 families every hour, and 743 new families every day.
About half of all marriages were in urban areas (136,713 or 50.3%), and the rest in rural areas (135,063 or 49.7%).
The leading regions in terms of the number of marriages are Kashkadarya (8.1%), Khorezm (8.1%), and Surkhandarya (8.0%).
The highest indicators in the context of districts and cities are as follows:
Shaykhantakhur (10.8%), Bektemir (9.5%), Sergeli (9.3%), Termez (9.3%), Kokdala (9.2%), Bandikhan (9.0%) and Sokh (9.0%).
The smallest number of marriages was registered in the Tamdy (3.2%), Muynak (4.7%), Akhangaran (4.8%), Karauzyak (4.8%), Shumanay (5.0%) and Uchkuduk (5.0%) districts.
Thus, there is a significant difference between regions in the number of marriages across the country. This is explained by population density, living standards, and social factors.
