A girl drowned and died in a kindergarten in Jizzakh


On October 24, a 1.5-year-old girl drowned and died at the private “Mehrli Yulduz” kindergarten in Mirzachol district, Jizzakh region. This was reported by the press service of the Jizzakh Regional Department of Preschool and School Education.

According to preliminary information, a child named X.F.D., born on May 5, 2024, was left unattended on the kindergarten premises.

During lunchtime, she wandered away from the group, fell into a pool filled with water, and drowned. The caregiver stated that she was looking after 26 children alone.

According to the deceased girl’s mother, she had enrolled her daughter in the kindergarten a month earlier, and there was an attempt to “cover up” what happened. The Department of Preschool and School Education is conducting the necessary service checks.

Based on this incident, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 116 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
