“Uzbekistan Railways” JSC’s structural subdivision, the “Uzjeldorpass” passenger railway operator, has announced changes in the prices for intercity tickets between Nukus and Urgench. Starting from November 22 this year, train ticket prices for this route will double.
According to the announced information, the ticket price for adults will increase from 20,000 UZS to 40,000 UZS. For children, the ticket price will go up from 11,500 UZS to 21,500 UZS.
The company explained that the reason for these measures is “the necessity to improve service quality and create a comfortable environment for passengers.” This route, connecting Nukus, the capital of Karakalpakstan, and Urgench, the administrative center of the Khorezm region, was launched on September 27.
The electric train (flights 6354/6353) operates daily according to the set schedule. The train departs from Nukus at 05:30 and arrives in Urgench at 08:50.
The return train leaves Urgench at 15:30 and arrives in Nukus at 18:50. The increase in these tariffs is especially notable against the backdrop of the National Statistics Committee’s October data.
According to this information, the average price for suburban passenger transport by electric trains across the country increased by 2.5 percent, while the price of long-distance train tickets decreased by 0.2 percent last month. In addition, at the end of October, Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov announced that state transport companies—including “Uzbekistan Railways,” “UzAirways,” and “Uzbekistan Airports”—were tasked with reducing service costs by 20 percent by the end of the year.
He also announced that a decision is being prepared to optimize state company expenses and reduce costs by 2026. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
