In Samarkand, a drifter with a fake license plate was detained

In the city of Samarkand, a driver who grossly violated traffic rules and attempted to gain popularity on social media was detained by law enforcement authorities. He installed a fake license plate purchased online on his vehicle and performed dangerous driving actions on city streets.
According to reports, the incident occurred on April 9, 2026, around 02:00 at night. The driver of a Gentra vehicle unlawfully took the car from home and attached a fake license plate “01 666 VOR” purchased for 450 thousand soums.
During the drive, he drove in the opposite lane and repeatedly continued driving despite red traffic lights. Additionally, one of his companions pulled out a traffic police baton through the car’s sunroof, recorded the situation on video, and posted it on social media.
The driver later admitted his actions, stating that he tried to avoid traffic control using a fake plate and believed he would “not be caught by radar”. His companion said the video was posted on Instagram to gain followers.
A report was drawn up against the driver under Part 1 of Article 128-10 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility. All materials have been sent to the Samarkand city court.
It is noted that such cases pose a serious threat to road safety and are strictly punished under the law.
