Guardiola: “Our plan didn’t work, but I’m not disappointed”

The FA Cup Final was Manchester City's last chance to end the season with a trophy, but Pep Guardiola's side lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace, missing that opportunity. The match was decided in the 16th minute by a strike from Eberechi Eze.

After the game, City’s head coach Guardiola shared the following thoughts:

“We had a plan, but it didn’t work. Still, I’m not disappointed with the result. I’m more pleased with my team’s fight and effort. We had chances in attack, but the opponent formed a very tight defense in the penalty area, which made it very difficult to score.”

According to Guardiola, the team will now focus on the upcoming games to secure a place in the UEFA Champions League.

“We have two matches ahead that are like finals. We must approach them fully recovered,” said the Spanish coach.

With this victory, Crystal Palace won the FA Cup for the first time in their history and achieved a significant milestone. Meanwhile, Manchester City, after a historic treble, now faces the risk of finishing the season without a single trophy.
