The Uzbekistan U-20 national team defeated Kazakhstan 1–0 in a friendly match. After the game, head coach Ravshan Haydarov shared his thoughts on the match and the current state of the team.
“These players haven’t gathered for quite some time. Many of the players are familiar faces who were part of the previous U-20 squad. We dedicated this training camp to players of Olympic age. The main goal was to restore old connections and rebuild our playing style,” said Haydarov.
According to the coach, despite the win, there are still plenty of things to work on:
“Yes, we won, but there are many questions that need to be addressed. A substitute player must strengthen the game when entering the field. Sitting on the bench doesn’t mean anything bad — it simply means that only the best players are called up to the national team.”
Haydarov emphasized the importance of team spirit and internal competition:
“Every player, even if they play for only 3 or 5 minutes, must make an impact. We identified our weaknesses precisely during this match against Kazakhstan. This game was a good opportunity for testing and analysis.”
The coach added that the team will focus not only on results but also on the quality of play. For the national team, this camp is an important step ahead of upcoming international competitions.
