Popovich: Australians Already Ordering Tickets

The head coach of the Australian national football team, Tony Popovich, shared his first remarks following the draw ceremony for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Australia was placed in Group D and will compete against the United States and Paraguay.

Another opponent will be determined following the playoff matches, which will feature Turkey, Romania, Slovakia, and Kosovo.

"I know many Australians have already started ordering tickets after learning who we will face. We will have strong support, and I believe every Australian will be cheering passionately for us.

After many years, our team managed to secure qualification with much more ease this time. During the recent friendly matches, we provided many young players with the opportunity to showcase their talents, which has strengthened the depth of our squad.

Now, we are beginning the final phase of preparations," said the coach, as quoted by FIFA's official website. Australia is currently ranked 26th in FIFA's rankings.
