Deschamps: This Is One of the Most Challenging Groups

The head coach of the French national team, Didier Deschamps, shared his thoughts following the draw for the group stages of the FIFA World Cup. His team landed in Group I, where they will face Senegal and Norway.

The third opponent will be determined based on the results of the playoffs (Iraq, Bolivia, or Suriname). "This is one of the toughest groups, possibly the toughest," Deschamps said in an interview with L'Equipe.

The French national team coach did not participate as a player in the team that faced Senegal in the opening match of the 2002 World Cup, but he believes the "Lions of Teranga" will once again be a strong rival for France. "They are a competitive team.

As for Norway, it’s difficult to have a different opinion after their performance in the qualifiers. They are among the best teams in Europe," Deschamps stated.

"Of course, we have significant ambitions, but this is far from arrogance. First, we need to show good performances, and only then can we think about the next stage," the coach added.

Deschamps also expressed his satisfaction that France has been placed in a group where matches will be held in favorable time zones for the team.
