In the 15th round of the Turkish Super League, one of the most intense and uncompromising matches took place between Istanbul Bashakshehir and the national giants Fenerbahçe.
Derby and end of goal streak
Fenerbahçe, which boasts renowned players such as John Duran, Milan Skriniar, Fred, Talisca, Youssouf En-Nesyri, and Marco Asensio, faced fierce opposition from the hosts.
Milan opened the scoring in the 64th minute, but Bashakshehir responded quickly. In the second half, the score was equalized (1:1) thanks to a goal from Bertugh Ozgur, who came on as a substitute for Abbasbek Fayzullayev.
The match ended in a draw. Uzbek forward Eldor Shomurodov couldn't find his way into the opponent's goal. Thus, Eldor's goal-scoring streak for the Golden Boot ended in the sixth match.
Scorer race situation
Eldor Shomurodov is second in the list of top scorers this season with ten goals. Fortunately, even the main competitors couldn't score a goal in this round.
- Paul Onuachu ("Trabzonspor," 1st place with 11 goals) failed to score in an away match against "Gyoztepe."
- Forwards from powerful clubs like Mauro Icardi (Galatasaray, 7 goals) and Youssouf En-Nesyri (Fenerbahçe, 7 goals) also left the field empty-handed.
Only "Konyaspor" striker Umut Nayir scored one goal, catching up to Ikardi and En-Nesyri in the number of goals (8 goals).
Note: In fairness, Paul Onuachu scored four of his 11 goals from penalties. In terms of goals scored from the game, Eldor Shomurodov has a better result with 9 goals.
The race for top scorers in the Turkish championship is expected to intensify. Eldor Shomurodov, who became a revelation of the Super League, will play his next match on December 14th away against "Samsunspor." All the fans are waiting for more goals from Eldor!
