French coach Jean-Louis Gasset dies at 73

French coach Jean-Louis Gasset has died at the age of 73, cnews.fr reported. Born in Montpellier, Gasset spent almost his entire playing career at the club of the same name, helping it rise to the top division. In 1985 he moved into coaching and managed Montpellier (Intertoto Cup winner), Bordeaux and Marseille. He led Montpellier three times, leaving the team most recently in April 2025. Gasset worked for a long time as an assistant on Laurent Blanc’s coaching staff. Blanc coached the France national team, PSG and other sides. From 2022 to 2024, Gasset managed Côte d’Ivoire and went down in history as a coach dismissed during the Africa Cup of Nations. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
