Former Uruguay national team goalkeeper Fernando Muslera shared his thoughts on Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi ahead of the 2026 World Cup. This was reported by euro-football.rureports.
According to Muslera, the 2026 World Cup is highly likely to be the last major international tournament for both forwards. The Portuguese star will soon turn 41, while the Argentine icon will celebrate his 39th birthday in June.
“I see Uruguay, Argentina and Spain as the main contenders for the title. Brazil are one step below them. I don’t think Cristiano will be able to win the World Cup with Portugal. I’ve played against both Ronaldo and Messi — the feelings are completely different. I like that short guy. Leo is already a world champion and I hope he will always remain the best,” Muslera was quoted as saying by ESPN.
The 2026 World Cup matches will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico in June–July.
