According to Tomislav Vlahovich, head of the Croatia national team’s medical department, the player could recover in time for the 2026 World Cup. The specialist noted that the bone may heal in around five months, but it’s not only about healing — it’s about returning to the pitch and being ready to play at full capacity.

Vlahovich also said that top doctors and physiotherapists are working with Gvardiol at Manchester City, and both the club and the national team will do everything to help the defender return as soon as possible.

In the 2026 World Cup group stage, Croatia will face England, Panama and Ghana.
