FIFA to strengthen offside detection system at the World Cup

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has shared plans to make refereeing even more accurate ahead of the upcoming World Cup. The main focus will be on improving the process of determining offside situations. This is reported by euro-football.ru reports .
According to FIFA, each footballer will be turned into a hyper-realistic digital avatar using updated AI-based 3D scanning. Players will pass through a high-tech scanning camera during the pre-tournament photo session, and the process will be very fast—taking just one second per player.
The scan results will enable the semi-automated offside review system to record every movement of players with unprecedented accuracy. The aim is to improve decision-making quality in controversial episodes.
It is noted that FIFA previously tested this scanning technology using the teams Flamengo and Pyramids, who took part in Intercontinental Cup club matches.
