New Rules to Combat Time-Wasting in Football Strengthened

Starting from the 2026/2027 season, new regulations aimed at reducing time-wasting will be introduced into football rules. According to BBC News, if intentional time-wasting is detected, possession of the ball will be awarded to the opposing team. This was reported by euro-football.ru reports awards.
If time-wasting is identified during a goalkeeper's goal kick, the opposing side will be awarded a corner kick.
Another noteworthy update: players have 10 seconds to leave the field of play during substitutions. If they fail to do so, the introduction of the new player onto the pitch will be delayed by 60 seconds, and the team will be down to ten men for one minute.
Previously, there were reports that a 'Vinicius rule' might also be introduced in football soon.
