Starting from the 2026/2027 season, new regulations aimed at reducing time-wasting will be introduced into football rules. If time-wasting is identified during a goalkeeper's goal kick, the opposing side will be awarded a corner kick.
Another noteworthy update: players have 10 seconds to leave the field of play during substitutions. If they fail to do so, the introduction of the new player onto the pitch will be delayed by 60 seconds, and the team will be down to ten men for one minute.
