Dugarry harshly criticizes Neymar's return to the Brazil national team

1998 World Cup champion Christophe Dugarry has harshly criticized Carlo Ancelotti's decision regarding Neymar. The former French footballer believes that calling up the 34-year-old forward for the 2026 World Cup is nothing more than a "show" and a sign that the level of the "Seleção" has declined. This is reported by Goal.com reports .

Although Neymar's return to the national team after a three-year hiatus was celebrated in his homeland, doubts are emerging among experts regarding his physical and tactical condition. Dugarry openly mocked the situation on RMC Sport: "I feel a deep mockery behind this call-up. People are saying he will get injured before the tournament starts or that he has gained weight. They have turned him into a spectacle, and Neymar wants it that way."

The former striker emphasized that the five-time world champions relying on a player past his prime highlights the team's current crisis. "Neymar's selection proves how far Brazil has fallen. I don't believe this guy can still offer anything to the team," Dugarry added.

The Brazil national team will gather at the Granja Comary base on May 27 and will play a friendly match against Panama at the Maracanã Stadium on May 31. Afterward, Carlo Ancelotti's squad will head to North America to compete in Group C of the World Cup against Morocco, Haiti, and Scotland.
