Uli Hoeneß: Barcelona has not a single penny

Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeneß spoke warmly about team hero Harry Kane on Saturday evening, while simultaneously criticizing Spanish club Barcelona. The leader of the German record champions dominated media headlines for hours on cup final day. In his interview, he criticized not only rivals but also sporting director Max Eberl and even the fans. This is reported by Goal.com reports .

After Bayern's 3-0 victory, Hoeneß appeared on ARD to discuss Harry Kane, who scored a hat-trick. "This is the best transfer we have ever made," the 74-year-old expert emphasized. The England captain, who arrived in 2023 for nearly 100 million euros, has proven his worth with 68 goals and assists in 51 matches this season.

Hoeneß stated that Harry Kane is not for sale. Responding to rumors that Barcelona sees him as a suitable replacement for Robert Lewandowski, he said: "Absolutely not. Bayern is a club that buys players, not one that sells them. Besides, Barcelona doesn't have a single penny. It all starts there."

The Catalans have been mired in financial trouble in recent years and have struggled to register new players due to La Liga's salary cap. However, according to recent reports, the situation has eased slightly, and the Spanish champions are returning to the "1:1" rule, allowing them to participate in the transfer market without restrictions next season.

Harry Kane did not hide his satisfaction with Hoeneß's praise. "It's nice to hear such things. Many great players have played for this club, so I feel honored. This was a big step for me and my family. I feel like part of the club's history," said the 32-year-old striker.
