The departure of France national team defender Ibrahima Konate from Liverpool has been officially confirmed. After the Merseyside club announced the exit of the former Bundesliga player, the footballer posted an emotional message to fans on social media. "I am very sad that I didn't have the chance to say goodbye to you all in the last game. It is understood from Konate's words that he was surprised by the failure of contract extension negotiations with the Liverpool board. Negotiations that lasted several months seemed to be heading toward a positive conclusion in April. The club issued an official statement on Sunday confirming that Ibrahima Konate would leave the team due to the expiration of his contract. Liverpool management thanked him for his service and contribution during his time at Anfield. Konate was transferred from RB Leipzig in 2021 for 40 million euros. He won the Premier League title in 2025 and several other trophies with the team.
