66-hour-long powerful magnetic storm on Earth has ended
A powerful magnetic storm that lasted a long time on planet Earth and was in the focus of attention of millions of people around the world has come to an end. This was announced in an official statement by the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute under the Russian Academy of Sciences.

According to experts, the magnetic storm began on Sunday and lasted for 66 hours. At the peak of its intensity, it reached level G4 — that is, a very strong magnitude. The statement said: “The magnetic storm has ended, geomagnetic indicators have returned to the safe — green zone.”

Due to the low activity level of the solar wind near Earth, experts emphasize that the likelihood of such powerful geomagnetic disturbances recurring in the near future is very low.

This storm has been recorded as the longest series of geomagnetic disturbances in the past seven years, following the 69-hour storm observed in April 2017. This phenomenon could have had a certain impact on global communications, navigation systems, and even human health.

For reference: the level of magnetic field disturbance around Earth is assessed using a five-point scale from G1 to G5. G1 indicates mild, and G5 indicates extremely powerful storms.

In recent days, astronomers and meteorologists had been warning about the unusual natural activity observed around the world. Now, Earth’s magnetic environment is returning to a stable state.
