Historic achievement in mathematics: 5 medals at once

The Uzbekistan national team has achieved the highest result in its history at the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad. At this prestigious competition held in Australia, our young mathematicians won 4 silver and 1 bronze medal, proudly representing our country.

This was reported by Hilola Umarova, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration for Education Reform, on her personal Telegram channel.

Meet the winners:

Elbek Zokhidjonov — Specialized School named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi, 10th grade (silver medal),
Asadbek Bobokulov — “Artel Technical School” NTM, 11th grade (silver medal),
Rasulbek Gafforov — Specialized School named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi, 10th grade (silver medal),
Behruz Elmurodov — Mirishkor District School No. 21, 11th grade (silver medal),
Ozodbek Akhtamov — Specialized School named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi, 11th grade (bronze medal),
Umarbek Ubaydullaev — Specialized School of Sergeli District, 7th grade (Honourable Mention).

The team won a total of 5 medals — 4 silver and 1 bronze — raising the national flag with great pride. This achievement marks a new milestone in Uzbekistan’s participation in international science olympiads.

Well-deserved awards
For their success at the international olympiad, the government — which places strong emphasis on education — will reward the winners as follows:

For 2nd place (silver medal) — 562.5 million soums (1500 times the base rate),
For 3rd place (bronze medal) — 375 million soums (1000 times the base rate).

As a reminder, at the 2024 International Mathematical Olympiad, the Uzbekistan team had won 2 silver and 3 bronze medals. This year’s result improved significantly, with the number of silver medals doubling.
