Saudi husband arrested, Uzbek woman returned to homeland

In the city of Dammam, Saudi Arabia, a citizen of Uzbekistan named R.G. had been subjected to continuous abuse from her husband for many years. She appealed to the Embassy of Uzbekistan, requesting assistance in returning to her homeland.

According to Saudi Arabian law, foreign citizens are required to obtain a special visa to leave the country. Women, however, must officially obtain permission from their husbands during this process.

Based on R.G.’s application, her husband was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. During the conversation, he was obliged to grant permission for the exit visa, not to obstruct his wife, not to harass, and not to cause her harm.

As a result, R.G. obtained an exit visa and returned to Uzbekistan.
