In Tashkent, customs officers uncovered a large batch of tobacco products in illegal circulation. During a raid in the Sergeli district, nearly 44,000 packs of cigarettes without excise stamps were found. Podrobno.uz reports.reports.
During the inspection, 43.9 thousand packs of five types of cigarettes were seized from the trunk of a Labo vehicle without excise stamps and relevant documents. The special operation was carried out by officers of the “Tashkent-Aero” customs complex in cooperation with the State Security Service and other agencies.
The seized cigarettes were оформлены as material evidence, and an inquiry is underway.
As a reminder, Uzbekistan has updated the procedure for destroying counterfeit cigarettes: instead of burning, a shredding method is now used. This approach aims to reduce environmental damage.
