An energy-efficient indoor substation is being built in New Tashkent

In the New Tashkent area, Uzbekistan’s first indoor-type substation is being built together with Chinese partners. It is planned to operate based on modern trigeneration technology, providing the city with heating, cooling, and energy efficiency at the same time. This was reported in detail by podrobno.uzreports.

While reviewing the project, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received information about the capabilities of the new facility. It was noted that the main buildings and structures in New Tashkent will rely specifically on this substation system for energy supply.

At the initial stage, 75 megawatts of thermal capacity and 100 megawatts of cooling capacity will be launched, and 17 megawatts of electricity generation will also be put in place. It was noted that, first and foremost, a 100-megawatt substation is sufficient to cover the city’s initial demand.

Indoor-type substations have a number of advantages over conventional outdoor substations. They are designed to fit the urban environment and do not negatively affect the architectural appearance. Noise levels are twice as low, and the footprint is three times smaller, which is especially important for New Tashkent with its complex engineering concept.

The project is being implemented under a public-private partnership. China’s Haocheng Industry Group Limited is participating.

Earlier, Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected key infrastructure facilities and new administrative buildings in New Tashkent, and also visited the construction site of the “Sharq Bahori” residential complex.
