Uzbekistan’s power generation rose in 2025 as solar and wind output doubled

In 2025, electricity generation in Uzbekistan increased by 6%. According to the Ministry of Energy, the amount of energy produced by solar and wind power plants doubled and, for the first time, exceeded 10.5 billion kWh. Podrobno.uz reports thisreports.
“Green” generation from renewable sources, including hydropower, reached 16.8 billion kWh. This figure is 29% higher than in the previous period. As a result, the country saved 3.2 billion cubic meters of gas, while harmful emissions decreased by 4.7 million tons.
Over the year, 42 new projects with a total capacity of 4,647 MW were commissioned. They include 5 solar plants, 4 wind farms, 10 battery systems, 1 thermal power plant, and 2 cogeneration units.
At the same time, construction is ongoing on 21 projects totaling 3,508 MW. The plans include building substations as well as installing 2,050 kilometers of new power lines, alongside power plants and energy storage systems.
Thousands of kilometers of transmission and distribution networks underwent major repairs, and transformers and substations were upgraded. It was noted that this helped improve electricity supply for more than 800,000 households across 954 mahallas.
It was reported that, under the energy efficiency program, 2.7 billion kWh of electricity and 2 billion cubic meters of gas were saved.
Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan’s first indoor-type substation is being built in New Tashkent with Chinese partners. It was said to operate on modern trigeneration technology and provide simultaneous heating, cooling, and energy savings for the city.
