President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sincerely congratulated the country's population on May 9 — the Day of Remembrance and Honor. This was reported by the Presidential Press Service.

In his greeting, the head of state first emphasized bowing in memory of the ancestors who sacrificed their lives in the fight against fascism during the Second World War. High respect and honor were also expressed to the war and labor veterans living among us today.

“I sincerely congratulate you, dear ones, and our entire multi-ethnic people on this auspicious day — the Day of Remembrance and Honor and the 81st anniversary of the great victory won in the Second World War.

On this unforgettable day, we first bow our heads in memory of our heroic ancestors who showed unparalleled courage on the battlefields and made a worthy contribution to saving humanity from the scourge of fascism. We express our high respect to the war and labor veterans, our elderly fathers and mothers who are living among us today in good health.

During the years of independence, we remember with love and respect the memory of courageous military personnel and law enforcement officers who died heroically while protecting the inviolability of our Motherland's borders and defending the peaceful and calm life of our people,” the congratulatory letter says.

The President specifically noted the historical courage of the people of Uzbekistan. According to him, millions of compatriots were mobilized to the front during the war years, and hundreds of thousands died or went missing. At the same time, thousands of soldiers and officers were awarded orders and medals, and hundreds of compatriots were awarded the highest titles.

The head of state also proudly mentioned that during the war years, Uzbekistan served as a solid support behind the front, providing shelter and kindness to millions of people evacuated from other regions.

It was emphasized that work to support veterans and create necessary conditions for their decent life continues consistently in our country today. In particular, it was noted that financial assistance was provided to war participants and disabled persons in honor of the holiday.

It was also stated that the Victory Park and its “Ray of Remembrance” and “Devotees of the Nation” complexes are becoming sacred places for the people.

The President emphasized that in today's complex era, preserving peace and stability, strengthening interethnic harmony, and educating youth in a spirit of patriotism remain priority tasks.

At the end of the greeting, the head of state wished all compatriots health, happiness, and peace to their homes, and congratulated them once again on the holiday.

“Once again, I sincerely congratulate you, our respected veterans, and our entire nation, and wish you all health, happiness, and success, and peace, tranquility, and prosperity to your homes. May our hardworking and wise people always be safe! May the Creator support us in our good deeds! Happy Day of Remembrance and Honor to us all!” says the President of Uzbekistan.
