Another unique work of the great Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh has impressed the global art market. At the Sotheby’s auction held in New York, the painter’s artwork titled "Collections of Parisian Novels and Roses in a Glass" was sold for 62.7 million dollars. This was reported by NL Times.
According to the information, the piece was purchased by renowned art expert Patty Wong. The final price exceeded the estimated value by 35 percent. Before the auction, experts from the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam thoroughly examined the painting and officially confirmed that it is an original.
Van Gogh created this artwork in November–December of 1887 in Paris, during the period when he was living in the same apartment as his brother Theo. It is noted that in those years the painter was strongly influenced by French life, colors, and art, which helped shape a more free and expressive style.
Many art enthusiasts consider this price another proof of the rising interest in Van Gogh’s incomparable creativity.
