The United Kingdom has made a decisive decision against cigarettes

The UK Parliament has finally approved the "Tobacco Products and Vapes Act," introducing a strict anti-smoking measure. Now, the sale of cigarettes to citizens born on or after January 1, 2009, is prohibited for life. This was reported by The Independent.

The new procedure aims to completely restrict access to tobacco products for young people under the age of 17 and to form a "non-smoking generation" in the future. Once the law comes into force, government officials will be empowered to strictly monitor not only cigarettes but also vapes and nicotine products, their flavors, and packaging.

The Minister of Health hailed the decision as a historic step, calling it one of the largest health initiatives that will have a positive impact on the lives of a generation. He emphasized that these measures will help save thousands of lives.

According to officials, this innovation will be implemented in stages in cooperation with representatives of the trade sector to reduce the negative impact on business.

It should be noted that this decision is an integral continuation of the anti-smoking policy that has been implemented in the UK for years. Previously, the country strictly restricted tobacco advertising, introduced simple packaging, and increased the age limit for purchasing cigarettes.
