The reaction among European nations regarding the situation in the Middle East is becoming increasingly stringent. Spain, Slovenia, and Ireland are calling on the European Union to reconsider the existing cooperation agreement with Israel and discuss its temporary suspension.
Jose Manuel Albares announced this during an address within the European Union framework. He emphasized that the current geopolitical situation has taken an extremely serious turn, with the state of affairs in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region being assessed as one of the severest crises in recent decades.
According to the minister, this situation threatens not only regional security but also international stability. Therefore, the necessity for the European Union to demonstrate a firm and united position on this matter was emphasized.
He also touched upon the situation in Lebanon specifically. It was noted that concerns are being raised regarding violations of international law in the country's southern regions. It was highlighted that civilians are being forced to flee their homes for security reasons, and the humanitarian situation is deteriorating by the day.
Experts believe that if the European Union makes a decisive resolution on this issue, it could have a significant impact not only on political relations but also on economic and diplomatic ties.
