It has been reported that Trump previously jokingly referred to the strait by his own name during an investment forum in Miami, emphasizing that his remarks were not accidental. Shortly thereafter, media outlets reported that he was also considering the possibility of renaming the strait to the "American Strait."
In recent years, Trump has been actively promoting initiatives to rename significant facilities and geographical locations. In particular, decisions regarding the renaming of certain organizations and territories have also been announced.
