According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 1 billion people today suffer from various mental health problems.
The organization’s report notes that the most common disorders include anxiety and depression. Statistics show that women suffer from mental illnesses more often than men.
Experts emphasize that the wide prevalence of mental health disorders negatively affects the economic development of many countries. Due to anxiety and depression alone, the global economy loses an average of about 1 trillion dollars each year.
Nevertheless, many countries allocate only about 2% of their healthcare budgets to mental health support. Unfortunately, in low-income countries, less than 10% of patients with mental disorders receive the necessary medical care.
