A traffic accident occurring in Tashkent has resulted in injuries to a school student. The incident reportedly took a more serious turn due to the driver's irresponsible conduct.
According to reports, the incident took place on April 20 on Keles Yuli Street in the Olmazor district of the capital. Footage shows two children crossing the road, during which one of them was struck by a vehicle.
As a result of operational measures conducted by the Tashkent City Internal Affairs Bureau Traffic Safety Department, the identity of the driver was established. He was identified as a 19-year-old male.
The driver stated that he honked his horn upon noticing the children; one of them stopped, but the second child was distracted and unexpectedly ran into the road. He claimed he attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to do so.
He further stated that after the incident, he fell into a state of panic and shock and continued driving. After stopping and regaining his composure, he decided to return to the scene, but by that time, the victim had already been transported by ambulance.
Shortly thereafter, the driver contacted law enforcement agencies to report the occurrence of the incident.
Currently, relevant documents regarding the case have been filed under Article 133 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility (Violation of traffic rules resulting in physical injury or material damage) and Article 137 (Leaving the scene of a traffic accident).
Experts noted that the case will be reviewed as an administrative or criminal matter depending on the severity of the victim's injuries. If the physical injuries are minor, administrative measures will be taken; otherwise, a criminal case may be initiated.
This situation serves as a further call for drivers to be cautious and strictly adhere to traffic regulations.
