Manchester United decide against selling Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United management has decided not to sell team captain Bruno Fernandes during the current summer transfer window. Club officials personally informed the Portuguese midfielder that he will remain with the team under any circumstances and will be at the center of the club's future success. Earlier, reports had circulated that Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr was prepared to offer £80 million for the player. Goal.com reports on the matter.

The club leadership's firm stance is linked to changes throughout the season. Initially inclined to sell Fernandes, the executives changed their minds after considering the recommendation of former head coach Ruben Amorim and the player's leadership qualities. In an interview in December, Fernandes expressed disappointment that the club was ready to sell him; however, the misunderstandings between the parties have now been resolved.

Currently playing under the management of Michael Carrick, Fernandes is demonstrating exceptional form. He has provided 18 assists in the English Premier League this season, making him one of the main contenders for the Player of the Year award. Goalkeeper Senne Lammens specifically highlighted the captain's hunger for victory and high standards in the dressing room.

Fernandes' current contract runs until 2027, with an option to extend for another year. Although his contract includes a release clause of €65 million for clubs outside of England, the player himself states that he is happy in Manchester. The fact that the team sits third in the league standings with a chance to return to the Champions League has further solidified Fernandes' decision to stay.
