Russia to allow filing complaints over VPN blocking

A new function will soon be launched for users on Russia's "Gosuslugi" (State Services) portal. Citizens will now be able to complain about unjustified notifications from the system regarding the disconnection of VPN services. Ixbt.com reports on this.
According to the Ministry of Digital Development, this tool will help identify and resolve errors occurring in the operation of services more quickly. Many local platforms are restricting access for security reasons when a VPN connection is detected.
Ministry representatives recommend that users contact the support departments of the relevant services if access is blocked even when a VPN is not being used. Such restrictions were introduced to protect data from cyberattacks.
According to experts, most VPN services do not fully guarantee the privacy of personal data. For this reason, state and commercial platforms are increasingly strengthening their security policies.
