One of the major political events dedicated to regional cooperation and good neighborly relations in Central Asia took place within the framework of the third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, reports president.uz. At this prestigious event, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, was ceremoniously awarded Turkmenistan’s “For Contribution to the Development of Cooperation” order.

In his speech, the head of state expressed sincere gratitude to the national leader of the people of Turkmenistan and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and the entire brotherly Turkmen nation for the high state award. Mirziyoyev regarded this award as special attention and respect for Uzbekistan and its multiethnic people, as well as recognition of the joint efforts to strengthen friendship, good neighborliness, and partnership principles in the region.

— I accept this award as special attention and respect for Uzbekistan and its multiethnic people, as recognition of our joint efforts to strengthen friendship, good neighborliness, mutual trust, and partnership relations in Central Asia, — said the head of state.

In his speech, he noted that the level of strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan has significantly increased in recent years. Today, the two countries, based on historical closeness, mutual respect, and traditions of brotherhood, are successfully implementing major projects in economic and humanitarian fields. The volume of trade and economic ties and industrial cooperation has increased sharply.

The Uzbek leader also specifically highlighted the contribution of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the leaders of the region’s countries to peace and sustainable development in Central Asia. Today, the international community highly appreciates the integration, partnership, and formation of a new regional model in Central Asia.

At the end of his speech, Shavkat Mirziyoyev once again expressed deep gratitude for the order, congratulated the Turkmen people on the UN conference, and wished success for the summit to be held in December this year in Ashgabat within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust.

Such a high level of recognition between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan once again demonstrates the strong impetus for the development of friendship and cooperation in the region. This event is expected to open new opportunities and prospects for the countries of Central Asia.
