Pakistan’s northern region has once again witnessed a tragic incident. On the morning of September 1, in Gilgit-Baltistan province, a military helicopter crashed, killing five people. This was reported by local media, including Dawn.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. near the city of Chilas. The helicopter belonged to the Gilgit-Baltistan administration and is believed to have crashed due to technical issues while attempting to land on a new runway.
Police and rescue teams immediately arrived at the scene. Unfortunately, all five military personnel on board did not survive. Among the victims were Commander Major Atif, Commander Major Faisal, flight engineer Naib Subedar Maqbool, crew chief Havaldar Jahangir, and Naik Amir.
Officials are currently investigating the exact causes of the crash. Preliminary assumptions suggest that technical failure may have been the main factor. Both military and local authorities have been involved in the investigation.
Gilgit-Baltistan administration official Faizullah Farak also commented on the incident and expressed condolences to the families of the victims. It was also reported that helicopter flights were temporarily suspended following the crash.
Thus, this tragedy in Pakistan has once again raised concerns about flight safety and the technical condition of military equipment. Experts emphasize the need to strengthen safety systems and introduce modern aviation technologies.
