Tesla company released its 2024.45.25.15 software update, which combined two different Full Self-Driving (FSD) versions. The update offered FSD V13.2.4 for cars with the HW4 platform and FSD V12.6.1 for models using the older HW3 hardware. This is the first time in the company's history that two FSD versions have been combined in one software package.
Update stages
The update includes the following steps:
- First, the main software of the car's infotainment system is installed.
- Then the modem is updated.
- After that, the autopilot and FSD packages are loaded.
Tesla provided different FSD packages to adapt the update for various platforms. The main driver assistance functions remain open, while FSD is delivered in encrypted form.
Importance and changes
This approach helps to customize the update but increases the file size and extends the loading time. This process is reminiscent of Windows system updates, where all data for different devices is combined in one package.
User feedback
Updates are first offered to experienced users and testers, allowing them to test new features. New customers remain on the stable version. Tesla continues to work on optimizing the software, but the complexity of the FSD architecture complicates the process. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
